Malignant Breast Tumors

Malignant Breast Tumors

Most breast cancer lumps that are diagnosed are non-cancerous cysts or benign tumors. Benign breast tumors do not spread in the surrounding tissues and are not life-threatening. However, they may require surgical treatments. Nonetheless, malignant breast tumors can invade and grow in the near breast cells and destroy them if not detected early. If they are left unchecked, the lumps can spread to the nearest lymph nodes through a process called metastasis. During this process, cancer cells detach from the tumors and travel in the bloodstream to the lymph system and other body parts. At this point, breast lumps become dangerous, and the chances for treatment reduce.

In most of the breast tumour, changes are seen in nipples, including nipple secretions, appearance, dimpling or tenderness of the skin, but in malignant cancer, tumors appear as hard and thick lumps. They generally develop in milk ducts or mammary glands, and half of such malignant lumps appear in the outer and upper one-fourth quadrant of the breast extending to the armpit. Here, tissues become denser than in other areas. Any change in shape, size, and texture in the nipple may be in single or both the breast implies immediate medical assistance to avoid complications in the future.

Malignant Breast Tumors Causes

Malignant breast tumors can develop when the breast cells become cancerous and are not diagnosed at the early stage. These cells become abnormal due to mutations and divide and multiply abnormally. Researchers don’t know the exact cause of malignant breast cancer, but they believe genetics and poor lifestyle can contribute to it.

Q.1 Is malignant breast cancer lethal?

Ans: People diagnosed with breast cancer at early stages can manage their conditions with proper and timely treatment.
